Feteasca neagra CALOIAN Oprisor (semi-dry) box of 6 bottles
Fetească Neagră, the head wine of the CALOIAN series, has immediately gained lots of fans.
Intense sour-cherry red colour. Well-balanced, savoury, with refined well-integrated tannins; its friendly roundness is dominated by dried plums, black cherries and sour-cherries, in a “context” for the truffle-and-cocoa zest and wooden flavours.
Caloian is a tradition, an invocation addressed to divinity, calling for a plentiful year. Caloian is a doll made of clay, rags, straw or wooden sprigs, dressed in adequate clothes, buried according to a complex ritual. In different evolution stages, the custom was attested on the whole of Romania’s territory. The ceremony was formerly practiced in the third week after the Orthodox Easter day, but the ritual is observed nowadays occasionally, in spring or in summer, during the periods of drought or of prolonged rainfall.
Best associated with spiced dishes, such as Asian and Mexican cuisine
